# Manage tags

> Create and edit tags used across chats and contacts.

Tags are flexible labels you apply to chats and contacts. Use them to group, filter, and target.

## Steps

    Navigate to the tag settings page.

    Enter a name and pick a color.

    The tag becomes available across the organization.

## Edit or delete

* Click an existing tag to rename or recolor it.
* Use the actions menu to delete a tag (this removes it from any chats or contacts that have it).

## Tips

* Use tags to mark campaign sources, segments, lifecycle stages, or VIP contacts.
* Keep your tag list tidy. A long list nobody understands is worse than no tags.
