# Manage kanban stages

> Configure the stages that appear on the kanban board.

Kanban stages are the columns chats move through on the [kanban board](/docs/product/kanban-board). Configure them to match your real workflow.

## Steps

  <Step title="Open Settings -> Chat -> Kanban">
    Navigate to the kanban stage settings page.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add a stage">
    Click add and enter a name.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Edit or delete">
    Click a stage to rename it, or use the actions menu to delete.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Save">
    Changes appear on the kanban board immediately.
  </Step>

## Tips

* Use stages that describe meaningful transitions (New, In progress, Waiting on customer, Won, Lost).
* Resist adding too many stages — the board gets crowded fast.
* A stage you delete cannot easily be restored — rename instead if you are unsure.
