# Format message text

> Add bold, italic, or strikethrough to a message before sending.

Nobody wants to type `*asterisks*` around a word and hope WhatsApp does the right thing. Now you don't have to — select your text, and Clapvo formats it for you.

## Steps

    Click into the message input for any chat and write as you normally would.

    Select a word or phrase with your mouse or keyboard, same as in any text editor.

    It shows three options: **Bold**, **Italic**, and **Strikethrough**.

    Your text updates on the spot, already in the formatting WhatsApp expects.

## A couple of things worth knowing

Styles stack — select the same text again and layer on a second format if you want both bold and italic on one word. And what you see is exactly what your customer sees: the formatting renders on their end on WhatsApp the same way it looks in your input box, no surprises.
